CCTV News: China Federation of Logistics and Procurement and the National Bureau of Statistics announced the China Purchasing Managers Index for January on January 27. Affected by seasonal factors, economic operations fluctuate in the short term.


In January, due to the approaching Spring Festival holiday and the concentrated return of corporate employees, China's manufacturing purchasing managers' index was 49.1%, down 1 percentage point from the previous month.

From the key industries, in January, the equipment manufacturing industry purchasing managers' index was 50.2%, operating above the critical point for six consecutive months. Enterprise expectations rebounded significantly. In January, the expected index of production and operation activities was 55.3%, up 2 percentage points from the previous month, and rose to a higher prosperity range, indicating that most manufacturing companies have increased their confidence in market development after the holiday.

Huo Lihui, director of the Enterprise Prosperity Department of the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics, introduced that from the perspective of the industry, the expected index of production and operation activities in industries such as railway, ship, aerospace equipment, electrical machinery and equipment are all located in the high economic range of more than 60%, and related companies are more optimistic about the future market expectations.

Experts said that with the concentrated resumption of work and production in various places after the Spring Festival, a package of policies will continue to advance, and the manufacturing industry will operate stably and positively. The non-manufacturing industry generally continues to expand
From the perspective of the non-manufacturing industry, the business activity index reflecting the overall operating status of the non-manufacturing industry continues to expand above the critical point, and the non-manufacturing industry generally continues to expand.

In January, the non-manufacturing business activity index was 50.2%, down 2 percentage points from the previous month, and is still in the expansion range. By industry, as the Spring Festival approaches, industries including housing construction and infrastructure have entered the traditional off-season, supply and demand activities have fallen.

From the perspective of expectations, construction companies remain optimistic about future market expectations, and the business activity expectations index is still above 56%. After the Spring Festival, as enterprises accelerate their resumption of work and production, construction-related activities are expected to return to the expansion range.


In the service industry, driven by the Spring Festival effect, the business activity index in related industries has risen to the expansion range, and market activity has increased.

Cai Jin, president of the China Federation of Logistics and Procurement, introduced that the fields of transportation, catering, accommodation, and residents' shopping were very good. The financial services industry is also performing relatively actively, laying a relatively good foundation for the future economic recovery and improvement.



In addition, the business activity index of industries such as air transportation, postal, telecommunications, radio and television, and satellite transmission services continues to be in a high prosperity range of more than 55%, and the total business volume maintains rapid growth. The revenue of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 2.1%
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on January 27 showed that in 2024, industrial enterprises above designated size achieved operating income of 137.77 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.1% over the previous year; the total profit was 743.105 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.3% over the previous year. Among them, the profits of high-tech manufacturing increased by 4.5% over the previous year, 7.8 percentage points higher than the industrial average above-scale. In December 2024, the profits of large-scale industrial enterprises nationwide increased by 11.0% year-on-year, and the industrial economy continued to recover and the efficiency continued to recover. Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on January 27 showed that in 2024, cultural enterprises above designated size in the country achieved operating income of 141,51 billion yuan, an increase of 6.0% over the previous year; the total profits were 129,099 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8% over the previous year.
