On the afternoon of June 5, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping held talks at the Great Hall of the People with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Thongloun Sisoulith, who was in China for a state visit.

Xi Jinping once again congratulated Thongloun Sisoulith on being re-elected as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos. He pointed out that China has always regarded Laos as an important direction of neighboring diplomacy and firmly supports Laos in taking a socialist path that suits its own national conditions. It is willing to carry forward traditional friendship with Laos, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, intensify unity and cooperation, promote China-Laos relations to achieve a new leap, and jointly build an all-weather China-Laos community with a shared future in the new era.

Xi Jinping put forward four views on advancing China-Laos relations and the construction of a community with a shared future between the two countries towards high standards, high quality and high level:

First, we must adhere to the socialist direction. Both sides should jointly defend the socialist system and the ruling status of the Communist Party, maintain close strategic communication, implement the new five-year cooperation plan of the two parties, and deepen the exchange of experience in party and country governance. We should take the establishment of the "3+3" strategic dialogue mechanism between the two countries' diplomacy, national defense and public security as an opportunity to deepen law enforcement and security cooperation and resolutely crack down on cross-border crimes.

 Second, we need to build a solid foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation. China is willing to strengthen strategic alignment with Laos and expand cooperation growth points. It is necessary to take advantage of the golden corridor of the China-Laos railway to promote development along the line and "two inspections in one place" to promote the quality and upgrading of cooperation in the China-Laos Economic Corridor. It is necessary to accelerate the advancement of China-Laos-Thailand railway connectivity and achieve greater regional connectivity at an early date. It is necessary to strengthen cooperation in traditional fields such as agriculture and electric power, and expand cooperation in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and digital economy. China is willing to continue to provide Laos with assistance within its capacity.

 Third, we need to consolidate the traditional friendship between the people. Both sides should take this year's "China-Laos Friendship Year" as an opportunity to expand cultural, educational, health, local and other cooperation, dig deep into red resources, and enhance mutual understanding and mutual understanding between the two peoples. China is willing to work with Laos to implement talent training projects and create more "small but beautiful" people's livelihood projects.

 Fourth, foreign policy coordination must be strengthened. China appreciates Laos' long-term adherence to the one-China principle, its support for the four major global initiatives, its active participation in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", and its firm support for China's core interests and major concerns. We look forward to Laos playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. Both sides should intensify multilateral cooperation and safeguard the common interests of the global South.

Thongloun Sisoulith said that this is my first official overseas trip after being re-elected as General Secretary of the Lao Party Central Committee and President of the country. It coincides with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and China and the "Laos-China Friendship Year", and is of great significance. Laos sincerely thanks the Chinese party, government and people for their profound friendship and valuable assistance to Laos. During this visit, I witnessed the tremendous development achievements China has made under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. China has become the leading banner of the socialist system and developing countries, and the mainstay in safeguarding world peace and promoting the construction of a multi-polar world. China's development has provided valuable experience for developing countries, including Laos, to learn from. Currently, Laos-China relations are at the best period in history. Laos has always firmly adhered to the one-China principle and supported the major series of global initiatives proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. Laos highly agrees with and supports the improvement of the positioning of bilateral relations, and is willing to build a high-level political mutual trust with China, intensify cooperation in national defense and law enforcement security, jointly combat online gambling, electronic fraud, etc., deepen cooperation in economy and trade, investment, mineral resource development, clean energy, digital economy, modern agriculture, ecological environment and other fields, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote the construction of an all-weather Laos-China community with a shared future in the new era to a higher level.

 After the talks, both parties jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in inter-party, people's livelihood, finance, customs, economy and trade, youth exchanges, media and other fields.

 Before the talks, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan held a welcoming ceremony for Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife Na Li at the square outside the east gate of the Great Hall of the People. When Thongloun arrived, soldiers of honor lined up to pay tribute. Xi Jinping and Thongloun Sisoulith ascended the reviewing stand, the military band played the national anthems of China and Laos, and a 21-gun salute was fired in Tiananmen Square. Accompanied by Xi Jinping, Thongloun Sisoulith inspected the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and watched the procession. Children and teenagers held bouquets of flowers and the party flags and national flags of China and Laos and cheered.

 That night, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan held a welcome banquet for Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife at the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
