At 10:38 am today (October 31), the Yaojiaping Water Conservancy Project in Enshi, Hubei Province successfully completed the river closure, and the project officially entered the main large-scale construction stage.

It is understood that the Yaojiaping Water Conservancy Dam is 175 meters high, making it the tallest RCC double-curved arch dam under construction in the world. The project is located in a canyon area with complex topography and geology. Construction links such as foundation treatment, dam temperature control, and ecological water and soil conservation have strict standards and high technical difficulties. Yaojiaping Water Conservancy Project is one of the country's 150 major water conservancy projects, with a total designed storage capacity of 322 million cubic meters. It has multiple functions such as flood control, power generation, ecological conservation, and water resource allocation. The project is expected to be completed and put into use in 2031.

After the project is completed, it will further improve the flood control and disaster reduction system in the Qingjiang River Basin, stabilize the ecological flow of the river, optimize regional water resources allocation, continue to improve the comprehensive management capabilities of the river basin, and contribute to the ecological protection of the Yangtze River Basin and regional green and high-quality development.
