On October 21, local time, the latest data released by the British Office for National Statistics showed that the British Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 3.5% year-on-year in September, higher than the 3.1% in August, and the level of inflation increased further.

The Office for National Statistics said that rising transport costs, especially motor fuel prices, were the main factors driving the rise in inflation in September.

At present, the British inflation rate is still higher than the 2% inflation target set by the Bank of England.
