Ideology forges the soul to make theoretical learning "alive"
"Although people have retired, their status as party members has not.This class is like a timely rain, reminding us to think about the three words 'perspective on political performance' at all times." At the 2026 Quanzhou City Veteran Cadre Demonstration Reading Class, the words of Lian Yimei, a retired cadre of the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, expressed the aspirations of many veteran comrades.
This reading class held in Dehua moved the class to the Jiuxian Mountain Weather Station at an altitude of 1,653 meters for on-site teaching, which became a vivid epitome of the thoughts and souls of retired cadres in Quanzhou.
Jianqiang Municipal Party Committee’s main party school for veteran cadres has made good use of special resources such as the Jinjiang Experience Center and the "Zunlu Citong" themed classroom, and created brands such as "The First Lesson for Retired Cadres" and "Monthly Theoretical Shared Classes"... In recent years, Quanzhou has used rich carriers to promote theoretical learning to be in-depth and practical.The city's veteran cadre work departments at all levels held more than 200 online and offline learning reports, special tutoring lectures, on-site teaching and other activities, covering more than 30,000 party members.We coordinated and carried out a special survey on "Learning Thoughts, Seeing Changes, and Assisting Development", conducted in-depth interviews with 612 veteran comrades, and collected more than 584 "golden ideas" opinions and suggestions to promote the transformation of learning results into good strategies for development.
Organizational improvement makes the branch fortress "strong"
This past September, a demonstration training class for party organization secretaries for retired cadres in Quanzhou was held at Gutian Cadre College in Fujian. Nearly 50 retired cadres’ party branch secretaries and reserve secretaries participated in the five-day training.The Organization Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Bureau of Veteran Cadres of the Municipal Party Committee, and the Retired Cadres Working Committee jointly planned to adopt a combination of "thematic tutoring + on-site teaching + situational experience + group discussions" to help students hone their party spirit and improve their abilities.
After visiting the Gutian Conference Site, the Caixi Township Survey Memorial Hall and other places for on-site teaching, Zhang Zhiqiang, the retired fourth party branch secretary of the Hui'an County Public Security Bureau, was deeply touched: "The content of this training is very suitable for the actual work of the retired party branch secretary. After we return, we will organize and convey the learning and implement the working methods learned in the training."
Focusing on the standardized construction of party branches for retired cadres, Quanzhou established a quarterly scheduling mechanism, deepened the creation of "six good" model party branches, took the opportunity to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the party, cultivated and selected 35 municipal-level pioneer party branches and 95 silver-haired pioneers, compiled and printed characteristic case books on party building, and provided learning samples for each branch.Implementing a team quality improvement project, nearly 3,000 retired party branch secretaries, reserve secretary pool members, and senior talents were trained in hierarchical and classified categories to help update the knowledge structure and enhance professional capabilities.
Position empowerment makes the heart-warming home "hot"
In August this year, at the site of the second Chinese herbal medicine public welfare training event of the "Veteran Party Member's Home" in Quanzhou City, 20 pairs of young and old used Chinese herbal pieces such as chrysanthemums and mints to collage "hairpin flowers" on the base of the snail girl's profile. The Chinese herbalist explained the efficacy of the medicinal materials on site, and the intangible cultural heritage aesthetics and traditional Chinese medicine knowledge complemented each other.
Such a scene has become the norm in the party-building positions of retired cadres across the city.It is reported that 378 "homes for old party members" have been built in Quanzhou.At the municipal level, the Municipal Retired Cadres and Party Members Service Center was opened, the "Haisi Quanzhou·Silver-haired Pioneers" learning space, shared classrooms in the Party Building area, and the Silver-haired Talent Service Center were established to promote appointment-based services.This year, we have planned nearly 100 party-building research and volunteer service activities such as "Discussing the Original Aspirations and Always Following the Party" and "Haisi Senior Recommendation Officer Empowerment Advanced Training Camp", attracting more than 3,000 retired cadres and party members from more than 150 branches to participate, and radiating and driving all levels of positions to carry out more than 1,000 various activities.
