Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan watch North Korea’s special theatrical performance

Xinhua News Agency, Pyongyang (Reporters Yang Yijun and Zhu Jichai) On the evening of June 8, local time, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, accompanied by General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong-un and his wife Ri Sol-ju, watched a special theatrical performance with people from all walks of life in North Korea at the Pyongyang Stadium.

At around 21:00, Xi Jinping and his wife Kim Jong-un and his wife stepped onto the rostrum of the stadium together. The entire audience and cast and crew welcomed and paid tribute with warm applause and cheers.

The performance was full of passion and momentum, and was filled with the friendship between the people of China and North Korea. The actors used songs, dances, acrobatics and other forms to express their warm welcome to Xi Jinping's visit to North Korea again after seven years, and express their sincere emotions of looking forward to consolidating and developing the traditional friendly cooperation between China and North Korea. Familiar songs such as "My Motherland and Me", "Jasmine" and "Flowing Red Flag" resonated strongly with the audience and won bursts of applause. Xi Jinping and Kim Jong-un frequently applauded the actors for their wonderful performances.

The performance came to an end with the song "DPRK-China Friendship Will Everlasting". Representatives from China and North Korea delivered flower baskets presented to the cast and crew in the names of the top leaders of the two parties and countries and their spouses to congratulate the success of the performance.
