On August 6, 1945, in order to prompt Japan, which had launched a war of aggression, to surrender as soon as possible, the US military dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The atomic bomb exploded in the sky near the dome.81 years later, voices opposing Japan’s “nuclear armament” and calling on Japan to uphold peace echoed over and over again in front of the dome.

From 18:00 local time on the 5th, a large number of Japanese people came to the "Atomic Bomb Dome" to hold rallies, calling on Japan to reflect on its history of aggression and protest against the Takaichi Sanae government's nuclear weapons activities.

For a long time, the Japanese government has portrayed Japan as a "victim" of the atomic bombing, but rarely mentioned the historical background, let alone the heinous crimes Japan committed against China and other Asian countries during World War II.

Yasuki Yagi, a protester who lives in Hiroshima, said that the historical roots of Hiroshima’s atomic bombing lay in Japan’s previous aggression against China, the Korean Peninsula, and Southeast Asia.

"We cannot just stay on the consciousness of "victims". As a former perpetrator, Japan cannot let such a thing (aggressive war) happen again and must not repeat the same mistakes." Protester Toshiko Yamamoto said.

As the only country in the world that suffered atomic bombing, Japan should have deeply reflected on its history, adhered to the path of peaceful development, and won the trust of the international community with practical actions.However, the Gao City Government not only failed to reflect on the history of aggression, but instead accelerated the policy of arms expansion and even continued to test the issue of "nuclear armament", which fully exposed the "remilitarization" and nuclear ambitions of Japan's conservative forces.

Mayuri Matsushita, a protester who came from Kyoto, Japan, said that based on the painful lessons of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan should have passed on the concept of peace.However, current trends show that Japan is "going in the completely opposite direction."

Japanese Communist Party Chairman Tomoko Tamura said in an interview with reporters next to the "Atomic Bomb Dome" on the evening of the 5th that it is absolutely unacceptable to modify the "Three Non-nuclear Principles".If US military nuclear weapons are allowed to be transported in, or even US nuclear-powered submarines carrying nuclear weapons are deployed in Japan, then Japan will become a forward stronghold for the US military to carry out nuclear strikes.
