Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 24 (Reporters Zou Duowei and Ding Le) Reporters learned from the General Administration of Customs that in order to facilitate all walks of life to grasp the data, the mainland customs will work with Hong Kong and Macao to compile and timely release statistics on external trade in goods for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a whole.
The General Administration of Customs recently issued the "Several Customs Measures to Support the Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area", proposing 20 specific measures from 5 aspects to promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with greater intensity. Among them, in terms of focusing on integrated development, strengthening the connection between rules and mechanisms, and striving to improve the level of market integration in the Greater Bay Area, it is clearly proposed to work with Hong Kong and Macao to research, compile and publish statistics on the external trade in goods of the Greater Bay Area, and promote mutual recognition cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao.
Currently, the nine mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong and Macao separately collect foreign trade data for the region. It is impossible to obtain the foreign trade data for the Greater Bay Area as a whole through direct addition, and there is an urgent need to deepen information sharing. Lin Shaobin, director of the Comprehensive Business Department of the General Administration of Customs, said that the mainland customs will work with Hong Kong and Macao to research, compile and timely release statistical data on foreign trade in goods for the Greater Bay Area as a whole, and conduct trend and structural analysis of foreign trade, so that the assessment of the development of foreign trade in goods in the Greater Bay Area can be more scientific and all walks of life can have a more comprehensive understanding.
As one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and the strongest economic vitality in my country, the foreign trade development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is highly resilient and full of vitality. The total import and export value of the nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area will exceed the 9 trillion yuan mark in 2025, reaching 3.4 trillion yuan in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%, demonstrating the strong vitality of the economic development of the Greater Bay Area.
