The National 1% Population Sample Survey is a major survey of national conditions and national strength. In accordance with the provisions of the "National Census Regulations" and the requirements of the "Notice of the General Office of the State Council on Conducting a National 1% Population Sampling Survey in 2025" (State Council Letter [2024] No. 71), my country has conducted a 2025 national 1% population sampling survey. The standard time point for the survey is 0:00 on November 1, 2025. In accordance with the deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, with the joint efforts of all regions, departments, and survey agencies at all levels, as well as the hard work of the investigators and the active cooperation of the survey subjects, the 2025 National 1% Population Sampling Survey has completed on-site registration and main data summary and calculation. The main population data calculated based on this survey are now announced as follows:
1. National Population
The national population is 1,405.45 million, of which the male population is 717.22 million, accounting for 51.03%; the female population is 688.23 million, accounting for 48.97%, and the total population sex ratio (the ratio of males to females based on 100 females) is 104.21.
2. Household population
There are 514.65 million households in the country, and the household population is 1,296.85 million. The average population per household is 2.52 people.
3. Age composition
Among the national population, the population aged 0-14 is 214.36 million, accounting for 15.25%; the population aged 15-59 is 869.87 million, accounting for 61.89%; the population aged 60 and above is 321.22 million, accounting for 22.86%, of which the population aged 65 and above is 223.09 million, accounting for 15.87%.
IV. Population with various education levels
Among the national population, the population with university education (referring to junior college and above) is 272.33 million; the population with high school education (including technical secondary school) is 242.72 million; the population with junior high school education is 452.83 million; the population with primary school education is 331.22 million.
5. Urban and Rural Population
Among the national population, the population living in cities and towns is 952.08 million, accounting for 67.74%; the population living in rural areas is 453.37 million, accounting for 32.26%.
6. Floating population
Among the national population, the floating population is 357.88 million.
