Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 29 (Reporters Wan Qianyi and Ma Zhuoyan) China will fully implement zero-tariff measures for 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China starting from May 1, 2026. When answering questions at a regular press conference on the 29th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China has noticed Africa’s eager anticipation and positive feedback on the zero-tariff initiative. At present, global protectionism and unilateralism are on the rise, and the spillover effects of the situation in the Middle East have spread to neighboring continents. China shares opportunities with Africa and develops together with zero tariffs, which demonstrates the determination of China and Africa to contribute to global peace and development with stability.
Lin Jian said that China will continue to negotiate and sign joint development economic partnership agreements with relevant African countries, simultaneously upgrade the green channel for African agricultural and food products to be exported to China, and continuously improve the level of China-Africa trade facilitation.
