The new Western Land-Sea Corridor takes Chongqing as the operation and organization center, and all western provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities are key nodes. It uses railways, sea transportation, highways and other transportation methods to reach all over the world through coastal and border ports such as Guangxi and Yunnan. In 2024, Chongqing transported a total of 251,800 standard containers of goods through the Western Land-Sea New Channel, an increase of 41% year-on-year, and the value of goods reached 46.7 billion yuan, an increase of 67% year-on-year.
"The volume and quality of large-scale transportation have increased, the radiation capacity is getting stronger and stronger, and there are more and more partners." Liu Taiping, Party Secretary and Chairman of Land-Sea New Channel Operation Co., Ltd., introduced that the annual operation volume of railway-sea intermodal trains in the Western Land-Sea New Channel has increased from more than 900 trains in 2019 to more than 10,000 trains in 2024; the number of cargo items has increased from dozens to more than 1,160 in the current 10 major categories; the service industry capacity is stronger, and the comprehensive logistics solutions are customized for car companies such as Changan Automobile, helping the "Chongqing Vehicles Going Overseas" transportation volume to increase by more than 30% year-on-year in 2024.
Tao Liang, a second-level inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Government Port Logistics Office, said that in the future, we will take the construction of a new western land-sea channel as a driving force, accelerate the construction of a modern collection and distribution system, promote the deep integration of logistics, trade and industries, and improve the comprehensive service level of the channel.
