The reporter learned from the Hengqin Border Inspection Station of Zhuhai Border Inspection Station that in the first quarter of 2025, there were more than 7 million people entering and leaving the Hengqin Port, and more than 739,000 vehicles, an increase of 29.9% and 44.8% year-on-year, respectively, setting a record high in the same period in history.
As the core hub connecting Qin and Macau, since last year, 30 "joint one-stop" passenger and truck inspection channels and personnel inspection and delivery halls at Hengqin have been opened one after another. The convenience of customs clearance between Qin and Macau has been further improved, attracting more and more Macau residents to start businesses, find employment and live in Hengqin. Hengqin has become more and more "Australia". Data shows that in the first quarter of this year, the customs clearance of Macau residents reached 1.64 million, a year-on-year increase of 58.9%; the customs clearance of Macau single-licensed vehicles reached 487,000, a year-on-year increase of 45.2%. Both data also set new historical records, highlighting the new normal of "two-city life".
As an important channel for Macau residents and overseas Chinese to return to their hometowns to worship their ancestors, the passenger flow at Hengqin Port will usher in a peak. According to the Hengqin Border Inspection Station, during the Qingming Festival holiday, the average daily entry and exit of the Hengqin Port will reach 95,000 people, of which the peak entry and exit periods are expected to be between 10:00 and 14:00 and 16:00 to 18:00 respectively. The Hengqin Border Inspection Station reminds the majority of inbound and outbound passengers to pay attention to port dynamics in a timely manner, arrange their itineraries reasonably, try to avoid peak passenger flow, and improve travel efficiency.
In order to actively respond to the peak of passenger flow, the relevant person in charge of the Hengqin Border Inspection Station said: Hengqin Border Inspection will strengthen inbound and outbound passenger flow monitoring, scientifically organize service, closely communicate and cooperate with the joint inspection units of Qin and Australia, open full inspection channels in advance, and make every effort to ensure smooth and orderly customs clearance at the port.
