According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, from January to June 2026, China’s total service import and export volume was 3,779.75 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 8.3%.Among them, exports were 1,504.7 billion yuan, an increase of 17.6%; imports were 2,275.05 billion yuan, an increase of 2.9%.The service trade deficit was 770.35 billion yuan, 161.42 billion yuan smaller than the same period last year.The main characteristics are as follows:
Knowledge-intensive service exports account for more than half.From January to June, the import and export of knowledge-intensive services was 1,663.4 billion yuan, an increase of 6.7%, accounting for 44% of the total service import and export.Exports of knowledge-intensive services were 805.67 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8%, accounting for 53.5% of total service exports. Among them, the exports of personal cultural and entertainment services and intellectual property royalties grew the fastest, with growth rates of 57.2% and 44.3% respectively.Imports of knowledge-intensive services were 857.73 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4%.
Exports of travel services and imports of transportation services grew rapidly.From January to June, the export of travel services was 229.2 billion yuan, an increase of 31.1%, the fastest growing among the top five service export fields; the import of transportation services was 498.1 billion yuan, an increase of 30.4%, the fastest growing among the top five service import fields.
