April 5 is the 60th anniversary of the opening of the main channel of Hongqi Canal. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, over the past 60 years, the Hongqi Canal has diverted more than 13 billion cubic meters of water, irrigated more than 47 million mu of farmland, and promoted an increase in grain output of 8 billion jin.
Relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Water Resources introduced that since the opening of the Hongqi Canal, governments and water conservancy departments at all levels have successively invested 620 million yuan to implement the continuous construction and supporting facilities, water-saving technical transformation and modernization of the four-wheel irrigation area, restore and improve the irrigation area by 350,000 mu, and save 12 million cubic meters of water annually. The functions of Hongqi Canal have increased from drinking water for humans and livestock and irrigation of farmland to industrial water supply and ecological water replenishment.
In terms of promoting the construction of digital twins, the Hongqi Canal digital twin platform has been launched, realizing from flooding to precise irrigation, from manual management to smart control. After the digital twin system is fully put into use, the application time for the Hongqi Canal water use will be shortened from 2 days to 2 hours, and only 2 specialized personnel are required per 10,000 mu of irrigation area. The management methods of the irrigation area are more advanced and the operation and maintenance are more efficient.
In terms of water rights reform, Anyang City, Henan Province, where the Hongqi Canal is located, coordinates the water use indicators of the three major irrigation areas in the city to achieve optimal allocation and rational utilization of water resources. It is expected that the annual average annual water diversion volume of Zhangzhou will increase by 50 million cubic meters, an increase of 20% compared with the average water diversion volume over the years.
