CCTV News: As the main performance project of the 40th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, a special concert of Ye Xiaogang's works was held at the Jaguar Shanghai Symphony Hall a few days ago.

The second half of "Ode to Farewell" was from the first opera work created by Ye Xiaogang. It was inspired by the movie "Farewell My Concubine". It uses Peking Opera as an element to show the unique charm of oriental culture. In 2018, after the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Commission, Ye Xiaogang rewrites the four-act opera singing segment into a lyric-free version of the symphony suite "Ode to Farewell".

Chairman and composer of the Chinese Musicians Association Ye Xiaogang: It covers my understanding of Peking Opera, my understanding of the fate of the characters, and the joys and sorrows of life are reflected in this story, and also reflects some of my views on life.

As a contemporary composer with international influence, Ye Xiaogang has insisted on in-depth folk research and field research for many years, drawing creative inspiration from national folk culture, and organically integrating national instrumental music such as bamboo flutes and guzhengs into his works, poetry, Peking Opera, Sichuan Opera and other traditional cultures.

Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Head Zhou Ping: We write about our traditional Chinese things very beautifully, and this expression can be connected to China and the West. Both sides are very integrated and integrated in understanding and perception of beauty.
