During the exercise, under the unified command of the Eastern Theater Command, the Shandong aircraft carrier formation was located in the sea and airspace east of Taiwan, and conducted drills on ship-aircraft coordination, regional air control, sea-to-land strikes and other subjects with the naval and air forces that were forward, focusing on testing the integrated linkage of the inner and outer lines, three-dimensional blockade and joint combat capabilities of various military branches.
The H-6K fighter formation with live ammunition ran out of the far sea through the Bashi Channel, and carried out multiple simulated joint strikes on important military targets in eastern Taiwan. In order to ensure the bomber formations emerged, the Eastern Theater Command Air Force dispatched multiple types and multiple batches of fighter jets to build an air-controlled combat system in the Taiwan Strait and the southwest airspace of Taiwan Island through combat formation, open up air assault corridors, and seize regional control.
