CCTV News: According to the website of the Ministry of Emergency Management, recently, the Office of the National Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Management, together with the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the China Meteorological Administration, the National Energy Administration, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and other departments held a meeting and chamber of commerce to discuss and judge the national natural disaster risk situation in April 2025.
Comprehensive analysis believes that in April, as the temperature rises, strong convection and heavy rainfall weather increases, and the risk of floods and wind and hail disasters in some areas such as southwest, central and eastern China is high; local forest fire risks in North China, Northeast and Northwest China are high, local grassland fire risks in Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Gansu and Qinghai are high; local drought disaster risks in Southwest, South China and North China are high; local geological disaster risks in northwest Yunnan are high. The details are as follows:
1. The risk of floods and wind and hail disasters. It is expected that in April, the precipitation will be more frequent in northeastern Inner Mongolia, northeastern, central and southern China, central and southern East China, western southwest, eastern Tibet, and southern northwest, among which 20%-50% are more frequent in western Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan, and southeast Tibet. Some areas such as southwest, central and eastern China are prone to short-term heavy rainfall and strong convective weather such as thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, etc., and there is a risk of floods and wind and hail disasters. Affected by the rainfall process, floods may occur in Dongting Lake water system, Poyang Lake water system, and some small and medium-sized rivers in Zhejiang, Fujian and western Yunnan. Affected by the overall high temperature, the opening time of frozen rivers such as Songhua River, Heilongjiang River and Ussuri River in the Northeast may be earlier than the same period in the previous year.
The second is forest and grassland fire risk. It is expected that in April, forest fire risks will be high in some areas of northern and western Beijing, northern Tianjin, northern and western Hebei, central and eastern Shanxi, eastern Inner Mongolia, most of Liaoning, eastern Jilin, eastern Heilongjiang, central and eastern Shandong, western Henan, western Hubei, southern Guangdong, most of Guangxi, southwestern Guizhou, central and southern Yunnan, central and southern Shaanxi, and southern Gansu. Among them, forest fire risks in northern and western Beijing, northeast and western Hebei, eastern Shanxi, western and southern Liaoning, central and northeastern Shandong, northwestern Henan, central and southern Shaanxi, and southeastern Gansu are high. Grassland fire risks are high in northern Hebei, eastern Inner Mongolia, western Gansu and eastern Qinghai, and grassland fire risks are high in some periods.
The third is the risk of geological disasters. It is expected that in April, the risk of geological disasters will be higher in western Shanxi, western and southern Zhejiang, southern Anhui, northern Fujian, northeastern and western Jiangxi, western and eastern Hubei, central and eastern Hunan, northeastern Guangxi, most of Chongqing, eastern and central and northern Sichuan, northern Guizhou, northwestern and northeastern Yunnan, southeastern Tibet, eastern and southwestern Shaanxi, central and southern Gansu, eastern Qinghai and other places. Among them, the risk of geological disasters in some areas of northwest Yunnan is high.
The fourth is the risk of drought disasters. Affected by the early stage of high temperature and low rain, moderate meteorological droughts are currently present in southern southwest and western South China. It is expected that in April, the temperature and precipitation will be high in southern North China, northeast China, central and northern China, southern South China, southern Xinjiang and other places will be relatively high in temperature and low precipitation. We need to continue to pay attention to the development of drought and prepare for drought resistance and water conservation in advance.
