In the next step, China will promote the high-quality development of new energy vehicles from multiple aspects.
A relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that it will improve support policies and continue to consolidate and expand industrial competitive advantages. Technically, accelerate the research and development of key components such as key materials for power batteries, automotive chips, and high-efficiency hybrid engines. In terms of autonomous driving, we will promote the pilot projects of access to intelligent connected vehicles and road access, improve the standard system, and approve the production access of L3-level autonomous driving models with conditions.
A relevant person in charge of the National Energy Administration said that as of the end of 2024, the total charging infrastructure nationwide reached 12.818 million units, a year-on-year increase of 49.1%; the entire industry showed explosive growth. In the next step, the National Energy Administration will continue to promote the construction of charging facilities to make up for shortcomings, and focus on accelerating the innovative cultivation of new technologies and new business formats in the charging field.
The latest data shows that since this year, as of March 28, my country's automobile trade-in subsidy applications have exceeded 1.769 million, and the cumulative retail sales of new energy vehicle passenger cars nationwide exceeded 2.05 million, an increase of about 34% over the same period last year.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Commerce said that in the future, the old-for-new trade will be implemented in depth, and the support for the purchase of new energy vehicles will be appropriately increased to release the potential for existing consumption.
Sheng Qiuping, Vice Minister of Commerce, said: "Continue to organize the automobile consumption season, automobile culture festival, the 'Thousand County and Wanzhen Town' new energy vehicle consumption season and other activities nationwide, accelerate the promotion of marketable new energy vehicle models, charging infrastructure, and after-sales services to the countryside, and strive to make up for the shortcomings in the purchase and use of new energy vehicles in counties and towns."
