CCTV News: A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered reporters' questions about the Myanmar earthquake.

Q: On March 28, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake occurred in Myanmar. Are there any casualties among Chinese citizens? Will China assist Myanmar in disaster relief?

A: Myanmar is a friendly neighbor of China. China is highly concerned about the earthquake disaster in Myanmar and expresses sincere condolences to Myanmar. We hope and believe that the Myanmar government and people will overcome difficulties as soon as possible and rebuild their homes.

After the earthquake, the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Myanmar immediately activated the emergency mechanism and issued consular reminders to fully understand and verify the safety of local Chinese institutions, enterprises and personnel. No reports of deaths of Chinese citizens have been received yet.

The peoples of China and Myanmar have a deep "Borbo" friendship. We empathize with the earthquake disasters suffered by the people of Myanmar. China is willing to do its best to provide emergency humanitarian rescue and support to Myanmar disaster areas in accordance with Myanmar's needs, and help the Myanmar people fight earthquake relief and overcome difficulties.
