CCTV News: On March 28, the Wangjiazhai Tunnel, an important land channel from my country to South Asia and Southeast Asia, was completed in the Wangjiazhai Tunnel from Lincang to Qingshuihe Expressway in Yunnan. This is also the last tunnel that runs through the entire line. The construction of the Wangjiazhai Tunnel started in 2018, but due to the rare and complex geology, the construction of the tunnel has always been difficult. So, what difficulties have the construction party overcome?

Wangjiazhai Tunnel is located in Linxiang District, Lincang City. It is a key control project for the Lincang to Qingshui River Expressway in Yunnan. It has a total length of 16.05 kilometers. Due to the complex geological conditions here, the rock quality is extremely soft and the water stability is poor, and slight disturbances may cause sand collapse. Therefore, when digging, the traditional blasting method was not used, but static milling was used, that is, cutting layer by layer in the rock layer with the help of equipment to avoid instant explosion.

The Yunnan Lincang-Qingshuihe Expressway is one of the five major exit channels in Yunnan. The total length of the line is 156.4 kilometers. It starts from the old village in Chengdong, Lincang City, and ends at the Qingshuihe Port on the Sino-Myanmar border. It is built using two-way four-lane standard.

Liu Chengwen, general manager of Linqing Expressway Co., Ltd. of Yunnan Communications Investment Group, said that the Linqing Expressway is an important section of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the "Belt and Road" channel connection line and the China-Myanmar International Land Channel, and is also an important channel from the southwest to Southeast Asia. After the entire line is opened to traffic, the driving time from Lincang to Qingshuihe Port will be shortened from the original 4 hours to 1.5 hours.
