The State Intellectual Property Administration held a press conference today (28th) to introduce that as of the end of 2024, my country's high-value invention patent ownership will reach 14 pieces per 10,000 people, achieving the expected goals of the national "14th Five-Year Plan" ahead of schedule. The number of effective invention patents in strategic emerging industries reached 1.349 million, an increase of 15.7% year-on-year. Among the new patent applications for universities and research institutions, the proportion of invention patents has increased to 70.4%.
In terms of conversion benefits, in 2024, the number of national patent transfer license filings reached 613,000, an increase of 29.9% year-on-year; among which the number of patent transfer license filings for universities and scientific research institutions reached 76,000, an increase of 39.1% year-on-year, showing a good development momentum.
It is reported that the State Intellectual Property Office will continue to organize the inventory of new patents and continuously expand the patent conversion resource library. Promote the deep integration of industry, academia and research, support key enterprises in the industrial chain to strengthen collaborative innovation with high-level universities and research institutions, and cultivate a high-value patent portfolio. Improve the transmission feedback mechanism to the patent application end, and improve the front-end application and review policies based on the back-end conversion effect.
