CCTV News: According to the website of the National Bureau of Statistics, in February 2025, the national consumer price fell by 0.7% year-on-year. Among them, cities fell by 0.7%, rural areas fell by 0.7%, food prices fell by 3.3%, non-food prices fell by 0.1%, consumer goods prices fell by 0.9%, and service prices fell by 0.4%. On average from January to February, the national consumer price fell by 0.1% compared with the same period last year.
In February, the national consumer price fell by 0.2% month-on-month. Among them, cities fell by 0.2%, rural areas fell by 0.1%, food prices fell by 0.5%, non-food prices fell by 0.1%, consumer goods prices remained the same, and service prices fell by 0.5%.

1. Year-on-year changes in the prices of various goods and services
In February, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol fell by 1.9% year-on-year, affecting the CPI (Consumer Price Index) by about 0.54 percentage points. Among foods, the price of fresh vegetables fell by 12.6%, affecting the CPI by about 0.31 percentage points; the price of aquatic products fell by 3.6%, affecting the CPI by about 0.07 percentage points; the price of eggs fell by 2.7%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points; the price of livestock and meat fell by 1.8%, affecting the CPI by about 0.05 percentage points, of which pork prices rose by 4.1%, affecting the CPI by about 0.05 percentage points; the price of fresh fruits fell by 1.8%, affecting the CPI by about 0.04 percentage points; the price of grains fell by 1.3%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points.
The prices in the other seven categories rose four times and fell three times year-on-year. Among them, the prices of other supplies, services and clothing rose by 6.5% and 1.2% respectively, while the prices of health care and housing rose by 0.2% and 0.1% respectively; the prices of transportation, communications, daily necessities, services, education, culture and entertainment fell by 2.5%, 0.7% and 0.5% respectively.
2. Changes in the prices of various goods and services on a month-on-month basis
In February, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol fell by 0.2% month-on-month, affecting the CPI decline by about 0.07 percentage points. In food, the price of eggs fell by 5.5%, affecting the CPI by about 0.04 percentage points; the price of fresh vegetables fell by 3.8%, affecting the CPI by about 0.08 percentage points; the price of livestock and meat fell by 0.9%, affecting the CPI by about 0.03 percentage points, of which pork prices fell by 1.9%, affecting the CPI by about 0.03 percentage points; the price of fresh fruits rose by 1.8%, affecting the CPI by about 0.04 percentage points; the price of aquatic products rose by 1.2%, affecting the CPI by about 0.02 percentage points.
The other seven categories of prices rose, two scattered and four lowered month-on-month. Among them, the prices of other supplies and services rose by 0.7%; the prices of residence and health care remained the same; the prices of education, culture, entertainment, transportation and communication fell by 0.5% and 0.4% respectively, and the prices of clothing, daily necessities and services fell by 0.1%.
