CCTV reporter Zhang Jin: The "Golden Outer Ring" is actually part of the national transportation plan officially announced by the Ministry of Transport a few days ago.It is said that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, our country will fully connect the three backbone national highways G219, G331 and G228, and connect them in a circle to create a golden outer ring surrounding our country's borders and coasts.

But many people have a question in their minds: Why are there so many roads in China but these three?Why is it called the "Great Outer Ring"?Why is it worthy of the word "gold"?

Big: connected together, it will circle more than half of the equator

This "golden outer ring" is more than 27,000 kilometers long. What is this concept?A circle around the equator is about 40,000 kilometers, and it can go around half a circle.G219 goes all the way south from Altay, Xinjiang, along the western and southern borders, until Dongxing, Guangxi.G331 goes all the way west from Dandong, Liaoning along the northern border to Altay, Xinjiang, and connects with G219 in Xinjiang. G228 goes all the way south from Dandong, Liaoning along the entire eastern coast to Dongxing, Guangxi, connects with G331 in Liaoning, and then connects with G219 in Guangxi.

The three roads and three nodes, Xinjiang Altay, Liaoning Dandong, and Guangxi Dongxing, are connected end to end, forming a circle.

Gold: the gold of tourism + the gold of resources + the gold of strategy

So what do you mean by the word "gold"?The Ministry of Transport has given it three positions:

The first one is an important tourist corridor. From the Taklimakan Desert to the Hulunbuir Grassland, from Changbai Mountain to the Himalayas, from Dalian Golden Pebble Beach to Beihai Victoria Island, hundreds of national scenic spots, historical cities and coastline scenery are all located on this line. It is a unique world-class scenic corridor.

The second is an important resource development channel. G331 connects the Northeast granaries, forests and energy bases, G219 connects the mineral resources, plateau ecology and border trade ports in the west, and G228 connects coastal ports, factories and the marine economy. Food, energy, foreign trade and other important national resources are all connected by this line.

The third is an important channel for stabilizing borders. Hundreds of first-class ports and many coastal ports are connected by it.It is a major logistics artery in normal times, but at critical moments it is the lifeline of national defense security and coastal transportation.

The country built this golden outer ring during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. It is the main framework of the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network and is an important step in raising it from 91% to 95%. It is not simply the sum of three national highways, but the country is using transportation as a line to connect the border, inland and coastal areas, allowing resources in this circle to flow, people to be active, and the economy to be linked.
