Not long ago, the "15th Five-Year Plan" for the Development of the Information and Communications Industry was released, proposing that by 2030, a new generation communications network with complete coverage and leading performance will be fully built. The 5G user penetration rate will reach 95%, the number of gigabit or higher broadband users will reach 320 million, and the scale of intelligent computing power will reach 9800 exaflops, laying a solid foundation for basically realizing the modernization of the information and communications industry by 2035.
Yu Xiaohui, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that it is necessary to adhere to application-driven, moderately advanced, and systematic promotion of the construction of new generation communication networks, promote the evolution of broadband networks to dual 10G, promote the construction of low-orbit satellite Internet systems, coordinate and optimize the layout of international sea and land networks, promote the expansion and improvement of computing power facilities, strengthen computing network collaboration and computing power interconnection, and better support the construction of integrated computing power networks.
The relevant person in charge said that digital intelligence technology represented by artificial intelligence is accelerating breakthroughs and brings major opportunities to the development of information and communications.Data shows that as of the end of July this year, there were 5.154 million 5G base stations across the country, 10 Gigabit optical networks had been deployed in an appropriate amount, and the scale of intelligent computing power had reached 2185 exascale floating point operations (EFLOPs) per second.According to the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" for the Development of the Information and Communications Industry, my country will promote the deep integration of satellite networks and terrestrial communication networks, carry out applications such as direct connection of mobile phones to satellites and satellite Internet of Things; develop 6G base stations, and strengthen the construction of standard systems in key areas of information and communications such as computing networks and quantum communications.
