On June 17, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a regular press conference, and a reporter asked questions on issues related to Scarborough Shoal.

Lin Jian said that Huangyan Island is China’s inherent territory and China has indisputable sovereignty over Huangyan Island and its adjacent waters.Since late May, the South China Sea Institute of Oceanography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has carried out a comprehensive survey covering the entire Scarborough Shoal atoll.This scientific research operation will help deepen the understanding and prediction of the Huangyan Island ecosystem and serve the construction of ecological civilization in the South China Sea. It has been successfully completed.Any activities carried out by China on Huangyan Island, including scientific expeditions, are the legitimate rights of a sovereign state and other countries have no right to interfere.China urges relevant countries to immediately stop spreading rumors, slanders and false accusations against China, and stop provoking and causing trouble at sea.
