Drought in many places in Guangxi is still continuing, and precipitation may be expected to ease next week.

The Paper noticed that the Guangxi Soil Moisture Briefing 2025 issued by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on April 15 showed that nearly half of the farmland soil moisture in the region were insufficient to drought.

"Soil moisture" is an indicator of soil moisture. According to the brief introduction of the soil moisture conditions in Guangxi, from March 26 to April 10, 2025, most cities and counties in the district will be cloudy, showers or thunderstorms. On the 9th, some townships in Guilin and Baise will have hail and short-term heavy rainfall. The average temperature is 20-24℃ in most of the district. According to the monitoring data of 42 monitoring points of 14 farmland soil moisture monitoring stations in the district, 6 of them were too much soil moisture, 17 were suitable for soil moisture, and the number of points with suitable and excessive soil moisture accounted for 54.76%; the number of points with insufficient soil moisture, and 9 were dry, and the number of points with insufficient soil moisture and drought accounted for 45.24%. Nearly half of the farmland soil moisture was less than enough to drought during the entire monitoring cycle.

The monitoring points for insufficient soil moisture or drought are located in Wuzhou City, Beiliu City, Babu District, Hezhou City, Shangsi County, Fangchenggang City, southern Guangxi City, Qinnan District, and Youjiang District, Baise City, western Guangxi.

Guinan area: The relative soil moisture content of sugarcane at the monitoring point of Fusui County is 89.15%-91.64%, and the soil moisture content is suitable to excessive; the relative soil moisture content of sugarcane at the monitoring point of Hepu County is 61.75%-78.73%, and the soil moisture content is suitable; the relative soil moisture content of sugarcane at the monitoring point of Shangsi County is 39.92%-100.30%, and the soil moisture content is mostly drought and too much; the relative soil moisture content of sugarcane and cassava at the monitoring point of Qinnan District is 42.22%-81.13%, and the soil moisture content is mostly drought and locally suitable.

Guixi Region: The relative soil moisture content of the crops of Wogan and corn in Du'an County is 58.14%-71.92%, and the soil moisture content is most suitable and locally insufficient; the relative soil moisture content of corn in Longlin County is 69.54%-77.54%, and the soil moisture content is suitable; the relative soil moisture content of sugarcane and corn in Youjiang District is 32.96%-49.28%, and the soil moisture content is drought.

The Guangxi soil moisture briefing shows that it is expected that the weather will be characterized by "rain before and after, sunny between the middle" in the next 15 days, with rapid changes in the weather and temperatures of 8-34℃. For the next monitoring cycle, most of the farmland soil moisture in the whole region is suitable and partially insufficient. It is recommended that all regions: speed up the transplanting of early rice and do a good job in field management; seize the favorable opportunity of suitable soil moisture conditions to speed up the planting of sugarcane, do a good job in covering and conserving moisture, and improving seedling emergence rate; do a good job in field management of weeding, fertilization, and pest control of dry crops such as spring corn and spring soybeans; rainfall gradually increases in mid-to-late April, and low-lying farmland should pay attention to digging and drainage to prevent waterlogging.
