CCTV News: According to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently approved the test frequency of the railway's new generation mobile communications (5G-R) system to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., and supported it to carry out on-site technical tests of 5G-R system on some lines to further accelerate the pace of digitalization and intelligence of railways.
Railway wireless communication mainly carries core businesses such as train control, command and dispatch, and safety protection, which is crucial to ensuring the safety of railway transportation and improving the efficiency of railway transportation. With the acceleration of the railway modernization system, it has become a development trend to build a new generation of railway mobile communication systems using high-speed, low latency and high-reliability 5G technology. Based on the needs of medium and long-term frequency use of railways, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has carried out in-depth coordination and demonstration. In 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology guided the China Railway Group to carry out 5G-R field technology tests and conducted tests on business functions such as vehicle-site data transmission and multimedia scheduling communications; recently approved the 5G-R field test frequency to verify the performance and frequency compatibility of the actual vehicle under high-speed conditions and heavy-load conditions, aiming to improve the functional characteristics of 5G-R, accelerate the upgrading and transformation of the existing railway wireless communication system, and promote the maturity and growth of the 5G-R industry chain.
In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will work with the railway authorities to do a good job in the overall planning and intensive use of railway radio frequency, improve the development and utilization level of railway radio frequency, accelerate the deployment of 5G-R systems, and better serve the construction of a strong transportation country and a strong network country.
