According to statistics from the Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs, in the first quarter of this year, foreign trade imports and exports in the nine mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area achieved a good start, the competitiveness of export independent brands has improved, and imports have gradually moved towards the high-end.
In the first quarter, the import and export of nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area was 2.06 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.7%. Accounting for Guangdong's total import and export value increased to 96.2%.
In terms of exports, independent brand products exported 287.63 billion yuan, an increase of 12%, an increase of 2.1 percentage points to 22.2%. The export of mechanical and electrical products performed well, such as computers and their components, electrical equipment, household appliances, etc., increased by 19.5%, 12.9% and 6.8% respectively; exports of electric vehicles, motorcycles, ships, etc. grew rapidly, increasing by 107.8%, 46.4% and 32.2% respectively.
In terms of imports, high-end manufacturing and consumer goods are equally important. Imports of high-end production equipment and parts such as integrated circuits, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, computers and their components grew rapidly, increasing by 11.6%, 92.4% and 167.4% respectively. During the same period, the import demand for some people's livelihood consumer goods such as beauty cosmetics, toiletries, dairy products, aquatic products, etc. rebounded, increasing by 28.3%, 24.4% and 16.3% respectively.
The vitality of private enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been increasing. In the first quarter, private enterprises imported and exported 1.31 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.3%, accounting for 63.7% of the total import and export value of the nine cities in the Greater Bay Area. Foreign-invested enterprises imported and exported RMB 650.62 billion, an increase of 4.9%.
