CCTV News: Fuman Oilfield, located in the heart of the Taklamakan Desert, is currently the ultra-deep oilfield with the largest oil and gas resources in my country. The reporter learned from China National Petroleum on April 17 that the cumulative production of oil and gas by Fuman Oilfield exceeded 20 million tons.

Wang Ziyu, director of the Production and Operation Department of the Hade Oil and Gas Management Zone of Tarim Oil Field in China, introduced that at present, Fuman Oilfield has drilled a total of 144 ultra-deep wells with a total of more than 8,000 meters, becoming the oil field with the largest number of ultra-deep wells in my country.

The oil area of ​​Fuman Oilfield has an area of ​​17,000 square kilometers and an oil and gas resource volume of over 1 billion tons. It is the deepest buried, largest and best-efficient ultra-deep crude oil production area found in my country. Since its inception, 34 major oil and gas-rich faults have been found from west to east, and the oil and gas-containing area has expanded 10 times compared with the beginning of development. The Tarim Basin where Fuman Oilfield is located is the largest ultra-deep oil and gas enrichment area in my country. At present, 5 billion tons of oil and gas have been proven, becoming the main growth zone for oil and gas exploration and development in my country.

The Tarim Basin has a large scale of oil and gas resources and a large overall reserve. It is generally buried very deep. Only oil and natural gas resources with a depth of 6,000 to 10,000 meters account for 83.2% and 63.9% of the total ultra-deep oil and gas volume in the country respectively.

Huang Shaoying, a senior enterprise expert at the Tarim Oilfield Exploration and Development Research Institute, introduced that a total of 13 sets of formations have been deposited in the Tarim Basin. Through exploration practice, it has been confirmed that these 13 sets of formations have been discovered, and the deep ultra-deep oil and gas resources are large.

In recent years, oil and gas exploration in the Tarim Basin has continued to advance towards ultra-deep formations. Nearly 200 ultra-deep drilling are drilled every year, and more than 3,000 ultra-deep wells have been drilled in a total of 2 trillion cubic meters of atmospheric zones and 1 billion tons of oil zones have been found.

The geothermal gradient in the Tarim Basin is lower than that in other basins in the country, which is conducive to the deep generation and preservation of oil and gas. In recent years, 90% of the oil and gas reserves found in Tarim Oilfield come from ultra-deep formations, and the production of oil and gas in ultra-deep formations exceeds 20 million tons every year, and the production of ultra-deep oil and gas has exceeded 150 million tons. After continuing to overcome difficulties, my country has made many breakthroughs in drilling ultra-deep drilling technology in the Tarim Basin, and the drilling cycle of some 8,000-meter deep wells has been shortened to within 100 days, driving the accelerated development of Tarim ultra-deep oil and gas.

Recently, the full-depth 702 horizontal well located in Fuman Oilfield completed the drilling task in less than 76 days. The drilling depth reached 8,459 meters, breaking the record of the fastest drilling completion of 8,000 meters of the Tarim Oilfield with a deep well.

There are rich oil and gas resources under the yellow sand in the hinterland of the Taklamakan Desert. However, these oil and gas are buried deep underground, and it is very difficult to exploit. The technological advancement of ultra-deep drilling will accelerate the use of oil and gas reserves.

Wang Yixin, Drilling Engineering Staff, Waitbasin Project Department, China Petroleum Tarim Oilfield Development Department, introduced that this well demonstrated the comprehensive acceleration results of ultra-deep wells. Through drilling and speeding up, they achieved the first time shortening the drilling cycle of 8,000-meter-level ultra-deep wells to within 80 days.
