CCTV News: According to the Ministry of Transport, in March 2025, 54 cities in 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps opened and operated 326 urban rail transit routes with an operating mileage of 109,75.8 kilometers. In fact, 3.64 million trains were launched, 2.88 billion passengers were completed and 1.72 billion passengers were entered. In March, passenger traffic increased by 480 million passengers month-on-month, an increase of 20.0%, and an increase of 80 million passengers year-on-year, an increase of 2.9%. In February, the average passenger intensity of the total operating mileage in the country was 84,700 per kilometer per day, an increase of 8.3% month-on-month and a decrease of 4.3% year-on-year. No new routes are opened this month.

Among them, 43 cities have opened and operated 268 subway and light rail lines, with an operating mileage of 9,507.8 kilometers, a passenger volume of 2.78 billion and a station entry volume of 1.65 billion; 16 cities have opened and operated 25 monorail, maglev, and urban express rail transit lines, with an operating mileage of 970.7 kilometers, a passenger volume of 88.03 million and a station entry volume of 58.88 million; 18 cities have opened and operated 33 trams and automatic guided rail lines, with an operating mileage of 4,97.3 kilometers, a passenger volume of 10.71 million and a station entry volume of 10.15 million.
