CCTV News: According to Xiamen Maritime Bureau, starting from April 9, the Jintong Channel of Xiamen’s “Small Three Connections” passenger ships will implement a new route plan. The section between JT11# floating to JT15# floating is adjusted from the original line channel to the straight channel, and the Jintong temporary channel is used for two-way access to Xiamen’s “Small Three Connections” passenger routes. This is an important adjustment in the operation of the "Mini Three Connections" passenger route between Xiamen and Kinmen in the past 24 years.

The main maritime bridge of Xiamen Bridge (Xiamen Section) project has entered a new stage of assembly construction, and a rapid implementation mode of "land-sea collaboration and intelligent assembly" for project construction has been launched. Since the bridge is planned to be built with Pier 29#-31# in Jintong channel, the bridge cannot be constructed during the channel operation, and during the construction ship operation, it will have a certain impact on the safe navigation of Xiamen "Mini Three-way" passenger ships in the original Jintong channel, causing navigation safety hazards. Xiamen Maritime Navigation Protection Department takes the initiative to promote the launch of Jintong channel's redirection.

In response to the hydrological conditions and ship customary navigation route adjustments involved in the waterway redirection, the Xiamen Maritime Bureau took the lead in organizing a comprehensive scanning and bottom quality survey on the water depth and geological characteristics of the surrounding waters. It has joined forces with the waterway, navigation mark, pilotage, port, external agent, Yuanxiang (Xiamen) Coast Co., Ltd., cross-strait passenger ship owners and other units and experts and scholars to hold a coordinated meeting on the redirection of Jintong channel, and proposed targeted risk prevention and control measures in terms of navigation conditions, construction safety, on-site warning, meteorological impact, etc. Through repeated desktop deductions, the waterway redirection process will be further streamlined. According to the construction plan of Xiamen Bridge (Xiamen Section), a Jintong channel redirection plan will be tailored in stages. It is planned to gradually complete the final redirection task of Jintong channel through two temporary redirects. After this line change, it is expected that a second line change will be carried out in February 2026.
