A menu contains the standard "four dishes and one soup": braised local chicken nuggets, Fuping stewed vegetables, fried garlic sprouts with pork belly, garlic and Chinese cabbage, and winter melon meatball soup. The staple food is also very simple. The signature date is December 29, 2012.
This menu records a dinner when General Secretary Xi Jinping was conducting research in Fuping County, Hebei Province.
On that day, Xi Jinping braved the severe cold of minus ten degrees Celsius and went to Fuping on the snow, and had a meal in an economical hotel in the county town at night.
The hotel manager recalled that there was no wine at that time, and all four dishes and one soup were all local home-cooked dishes, and ten people were served at a table, and they were eaten very clean. Before leaving the hotel, Xi Jinping specifically told the staff to settle the accounts and not to leave a burden to everyone.
More than 20 days before this trip to Fuping, Xi Jinping presided over a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and reviewed and passed the eight regulations on improving work style and maintaining close ties with the masses. The document with a short period of more than 600 words starts with small matters such as reducing accompanying, simplifying reception, and not arranging banquets, and focuses on style construction.
This seemingly ordinary dinner menu is a vivid reflection of the implementation of the eight central regulations.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, whether attending meetings, inspections or visiting abroad, Xi Jinping will personally inquire about the relevant arrangements and strictly control the relevant parties, and urge them to implement the requirements of the Central Eight Regulations without fail.
When inspecting the Inner Mongolia border outpost, Xi Jinping and the border guards lined up with meals with plates to pick up their meals; when visiting the fellow villagers in Liangjiahe Village, northern Shaanxi, he ate a regular meal with everyone at the old clerk's house and paid the food expenses; for the visit, he repeatedly instructed to actuarially to stay in the delegation hotel, save as much as possible, do not waste, do not live in luxury, and be clean and comfortable.
At that year, at the meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee that reviewed and passed the eight regulations, Xi Jinping said earnestly—
"It is necessary to be more uncomfortable and uncomfortable. We are more uncomfortable and uncomfortable. The people's comfort and satisfaction will be higher, and the feelings for us will be better."
