CCTV News: The latest data released by the National Information Center shows that in the first quarter of 2025, driven by various consumption promotion policies, China's consumer market continued to heat up and consumption potential was released at an accelerated pace.




Offline consumption is accelerating its development. In the first quarter of 2025, the offline consumption popularity index increased by 14.2% year-on-year, up 9.1 percentage points from the previous quarter; the small commodity market operating popularity index increased by 16.3% year-on-year, of which 21.6% year-on-year in March. This shows that the sales of small commodities that are close to residents' lives continue to remain vigorous and vibrant, and people's livelihood consumption demand is accelerating.




The consumer market for life services continues to heat up. In the first quarter, the popularity index of life service consumption increased by 18.3% year-on-year, an increase of 7.4 percentage points from the previous quarter, of which 14.5% year-on-year. By industry, the leisure and entertainment industry and the catering industry increased by 67.6% and 14.5% year-on-year respectively.






During the Qingming Festival holiday, the enthusiasm for travel continued to rise. The Internet search popularity data of the National Information Center shows that the search popularity of multiple keywords related to Qingming Festival travel and outings has increased by more than 4 times. During the holidays, diversified consumption scenarios emerge one after another, injecting new vitality into the consumer market.
