Commerce Department responds to US tariffs on steel and aluminum
2025-05-07 source:CCTV.com

CCTV News: On March 13, the Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference.

Reporter: Recently, the policy of imposing a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imported by the United States has taken effect as planned. What is the spokesperson’s comment on this? Has China taken countermeasures?

Spokesman He Yongqian: Previously, China has made a statement on the United States' announcement to adjust the tariffs on steel and aluminum 232. China has always believed that the US 232 measures are unilateralism and protectionist acts implemented in the name of "national security". China, together with many other countries, expressed its firm opposition to this measure and urged the US to cancel the steel and aluminum 232 measures as soon as possible.
