On February 27, Eastern Time, the United States threatened to impose another 10% tariff on Chinese products imported to the United States on the grounds of fentanyl from March 4.
In this regard, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said that China has noticed the relevant situation. China has repeatedly stated that unilateral tariffs violate WTO rules and undermine the multilateral trading system. China firmly opposes this.
China is one of the countries with the strictest anti-drug policies and the most thoroughly implemented in the world, and actively carries out international anti-drug cooperation with countries around the world, including the United States. However, the US has always ignored objective facts and has previously imposed 10% tariffs on China on the grounds of fentanyl and others, and this time it has threatened to impose tariffs again. This behavior is purely "passing the blame" and is not helpful in solving its own problems. It will also aggravate the burden on American companies and consumers and undermine the stability of the global industrial chain.
China hopes that the US will not make mistakes again and again, and will return to the right track of properly resolving differences through equal dialogue as soon as possible. If the US insists on its own initiative, China will take all necessary countermeasures to defend its legitimate rights and interests.
