164 ships and 1.343 million parking spaces, accounting for 85.7% of the global total! China's ship manufacturing heads toward a broad "blue ocean"

CCTV News: On February 27, the 8600 dual-fuel vehicle transport ship constructed by China Shipbuilding Corporation Guangzhou Shipbuilding International was delivered in Guangzhou and a naming and loading ceremony was held. The transport ship is 200 meters long and 38 meters wide. It has a 14-layer car deck and can carry at least 8,600 standard cars.

It is worth noting that this ship is an "expanded and upgraded version" of the original 7,000-vehicle dual-fuel vehicle transport ship. It can carry an additional 1,600 vehicles while keeping the length and width of the hull unchanged. So how exactly is this done?

He Yongcai, project manager of China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Shipbuilding International 8600 vehicle dual-fuel automobile transport ship, said: "The technical difficulties are mainly the control of weight and center of gravity. The garage has been added to two layers, and the net height of the entire ship has reached 46 meters. Because the increase in height will directly affect the stability of the ship, on the one hand, we have optimized the structural design and used a large amount of 6mm thick steel plates to overcome a technical difficulty in thin plate construction. At the same time, we have also adopted a fixed ballast of 1,300 tons to achieve good stability."

As of the end of 2024, the number of orders for automobile transport ships in my country accounted for 85.7% of the global total

According to the reporter's understanding, Guangzhou Shipbuilding International has undertaken nearly 40 automobile transport ships orders, and 13 have been successfully built and delivered so far.

As of the end of 2024, my country's shipbuilding companies had orders of 164 car transport ships and 1.343 million parking spaces, accounting for 85.7% of the global total.
