The reporter learned today that recently, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) officially issued the international standards for elderly care robots formulated by my country (IEC 63310 "Property Guidelines for Active Assisted Living Robots Used in Interconnected Home Environments"). This standard provides benchmarks for product design, manufacturing, testing and certification of various elderly care robots based on the physiological and behavioral characteristics of the elderly care robots, and will lead the healthy development of the global elderly care robot industry.
This standard focuses on the needs and characteristics of the elderly in various aspects such as daily life and health care in interconnected home environments. Based on the auxiliary support level required by elderly users, it proposes the functions and performance classification of elderly care robots. In addition to general requirements such as availability, reliability, barrier-freeness, energy consumption and noise, it also puts forward technical requirements for the health status and emergency monitoring services provided by elderly care robots, communication support with family and medical staff, diversified housework, entertainment, home management, care and other activities support, mobility support such as going out and travel assistance, information and data management performance, etc.
World Health Organization data shows that the global population over 60 is expected to reach 2.1 billion by 2050, including 426 million elderly people over 80 years old. As the elderly grow older, functional attenuation and even disability will occur to varying degrees in terms of perception, physical strength and cognition. The emergence of elderly care robots can not only reduce the burden on care of the elderly by society and families, but also support the elderly with dignity and high-quality independent and high-quality life at home.
The release of this standard will guide elderly care robot manufacturers to accurately focus on the physiological and psychological characteristics and needs of the elderly, conduct design and development of elderly care robot products, improve product quality level, further enhance the ability of the elderly to integrate into society, and benefit the global silver hair group.
