CCTV News: Wangxian Village in Guangxin District, Shangrao, Jiangxi was once a poor village with an annual per capita income of less than 4,000 yuan, but in the past, the ecology of excessive mining deteriorated. In recent years, through ecological restoration and the introduction of cultural and tourism enterprises, Wangxian Village has become a well-known tourist village, and was lifted out of poverty in 2018. In recent years, Wangxian Village has used the "spillover effect" of tourist villages to drive the coordinated development of industrial chains such as surrounding homestays and farmhouses, allowing villagers to find employment at their doorsteps, while also turning green waters and green mountains into gold and silver mountains.
The mountains of Wangxian Valley Scenic Area in early spring are covered with fog, and the antique buildings with blue bricks and brown tiles stand on the cliff wall, and the bluestone roads are full of tourists.
Wangxian Village, where the Wangxian Valley Scenic Area is located, has a high altitude and remote location, with many mountains and few fields. The natural ecology here was severely damaged due to disorderly mining of granite. In order to change the appearance of mountain villages, Shangrao City closed more than 130 quarries in the village and called for more than 200 stone processing production lines to plan a new way out for green development. Based on natural resources, many attractions such as canyon rafting, plank road adventure, and rock pub homestay have been built. Guangxin District has created a national 4A-level tourist attraction "Wangxian Valley" in Wangxian Village. Now, Wangxian Village is under construction of phase II B&Bs and Folk Museums, and the changes in their hometown have also allowed villagers who are working outside to return to their hometowns to have a "tourism meal". Last year, the average household income in Wangxian Village increased by 50,000 yuan.
In order to allow tourists to have a better tourism experience, in recent years, Guangxin District has taken Wangxian Valley Scenic Area as the core, coordinated the planning of the surrounding townships around the scenic area to cooperate with each other, and coordinated the scenery to lead villages and linkages across the region, unified the implementation of road transformation, environmental improvement, sewage treatment and other measures, and developed catering, tourism activities, transportation services and other supporting industries closely related to the scenic area.
Zhangjian Village, three kilometers away from the scenic area, has its own new approach. They established a visitor center, undertake the reception of large groups, and uniformly allocated tourists to every household, allowing personnel to move in every homestay to help the villagers do a good job in the management, operation and construction of homestays.
Zhangjian Village in Huatanshan Town is located downstream of the Wangxiangu Scenic Area and is a must-pass for tourists to return. Relying on the location advantages of adjacent to the Wangxiangu Scenic Area, Zhangjian Village and Wangxiangu Scenic Area have developed in a staggered manner. Starting from 2021, a homestay cooperative has been established. After professional design and renovation, the 115 private houses have formed a boutique homestay belt with "one courtyard and one view", meeting the differentiated consumption needs of tourists.
In addition to opening homestays and building restaurants, Zhoucun Village, Zhengfang Town, 8 kilometers away from Wangxian Village, has also developed supporting industries related to homestays. During the peak tourist season, the village’s washing center’s fully automatic assembly line will process 100 sets of room supplies per hour.
It is understood that the Wangxian Valley Scenic Area received 3.1 million tourists last year, with a comprehensive tourism revenue of 528 million yuan, and a radiating economic benefits around the scenic area of 300 million yuan, and the number of local people benefited from 100,000. With the help of the "spillover effect" of scenic spots, at present, there are 1,100 B&Bs and Breakfasts and 386 farmhouses in more than 10 surrounding villages and townships such as Wangxian Township and Huatanshan Town, with an average annual income of more than 250,000 yuan, driving local employment for more than 3,800 people.
