At present, my country is accelerating institutional and mechanism reform and accelerating the construction of a safer, greener and more efficient new power system.

In today's China, its power supply capacity is becoming stronger and stronger.

One-degree hydropower in the southwest region passes through the ultra-high voltage channel and can be "flashed" to the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions more than 2,000 kilometers away in just 7 milliseconds.

The latest data shows that in 2024, the national renewable energy power generation has exceeded 3.4 trillion kilowatt-hours, completing the "14th Five-Year Plan" goals ahead of schedule. Today, 4 of every 10 kWh of electricity sent by our country comes from clean energy. my country has built the world's largest clean power generation system and the largest transmission network, and together they form the world's largest power supply system.

The times have also brought new changes, new energy has grown into "main energy", and emerging industries such as charging and swapping services and Internet data services have maintained a high growth rate of more than 20% per year. These changes have posed new challenges to traditional power systems.

How to make this world's largest power supply system safer, greener and more efficient?

General Secretary Xi Jinping has made major strategic arrangements for building a new power system based on strengthening ecological civilization construction, ensuring national energy security, and achieving sustainable development. He went to energy bases and energy enterprises and emphasized the need to vigorously develop wind power and solar power generation, coordinate hydropower development and ecological protection, actively and safely and orderly develop nuclear power, and accelerate the construction of a new power system. Going deep into factories and laboratories, he emphasized the need to accelerate the iteration and upgrading of key technologies and core products and the intelligent empowerment of new technologies, and improve the national energy security and guarantee capabilities.

Since the beginning of the year, the construction of new power systems has been fully launched from building clean energy bases to building smart grids to energy storage projects.

From the northeast to the northwest and then to the southwest, the construction of nine clean energy bases is being promoted simultaneously, and clean energy has taken full play in full swing on China's territory. In Gansu, a 700,000-kilowatt "photothermal + photovoltaic" project is being built to achieve full utilization of solar energy resources by combining photovoltaic power generation.

At the same time, nine ultra-high voltage projects are under full construction. More than half of the electricity transmitted by the ultra-high voltage DC projects from Longdong to Shandong that are about to be put into operation are new energy.

The new power system must be smarter and operate more efficiently. At present, the "virtual power plant" of smart grid technology is accelerating the construction of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Anhui and other places. As a "power manager", it can integrate distributed photovoltaics, charging piles, air conditioners and other power loads scattered in the power grid and flexibly schedule.

In Hunan, the first artificial intelligence "scheduler" in my country's power field has just started his job. Through deep learning of massive data, it can automatically identify abnormal situations in the operation of the power grid and make accurate scheduling decisions in a timely manner.

Let unstable wind power steadily "light up" the lights of thousands of homes. At present, energy storage construction is booming and new technologies are emerging. In Nanning, Guangxi, my country's first 100-megawatt-hour sodium ion battery energy storage power station is being expanded and upgraded; in Rudong, Jiangsu, a 148-meter-high building rose from the ground, and the users of this tall building have more than 12,000 "hard knots" with a single body weight of 25 tons, which is also my country's first gravity energy storage project.

At the beginning of the year, the first basic law in my country's energy field, the Energy Law, was officially implemented, proposing to give priority to the development and utilization of renewable energy, improve the power grid's ability to accept, allocate and regulate renewable energy, and accelerate the construction of a new power system. This year marks the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The national installed capacity of new new energy power generation will account for more than 60% of the total installed capacity, and the pace of energy transformation will continue to accelerate. Today, a new power system that is greener, more stable and more efficient is being built at an accelerated pace, which will provide strong guarantees for my country's energy security and economic development.
