CCTV News: Terminal T5 of Xianyang International Airport in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province was officially put into operation on February 20. As a highlight of Terminal T5, the museum set up in the airport will be open to the public from the 26th, and passengers can wait for the plane while watching the exhibition.
The Western Airport Museum is located on the 4th floor of Terminal T5 of Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, with a total area of 6,400 square meters. Passengers can make an appointment to watch for free before completing the check-in procedures and conducting security checks.
Chen Yao, the project leader of the Western Airport Museum, said: "The biggest feature of our Western Airport Museum is a cross-border form such as 'airport + museum'. Because the basic exhibitions of the airport are cultural relics excavated from archaeology during the construction of the airport over the years, mainly based on these cultural relics. Globally, Xi'an Airport can use the cultural relics excavated by themselves as basic exhibitions and can also tell historical stories in depth. "
The Western Airport Museum includes two parts: the main venue "Sifang Hall" covering an area of 400 square meters and the Treasure Hall covering an area of 88 square meters. Among them, the Sifang Hall is the basic exhibition, with 121 cultural relics unearthed from the airport archaeological excavations over the years as the main exhibits; the Treasure Hall focuses on special exhibitions, with only one cultural relic exhibits at each time, and the exhibits are replaced every 3-6 months. The first exhibition is a national first-class cultural relic, an exhibit from the Baoji Bronze Museum - the bronze ritual treasure from the Spring and Autumn Period: Qin Gongzhu.
After the Western Airport Museum is officially opened, the museum will be closed every Monday and New Year's Eve, and the real-name reservation system will be implemented. The public can make reservations through the "Western Airport Imagination Travel" WeChat official account. At present, all tickets for the three days before the opening have been fully booked.
Chen Yao said: "The only thing we want to remind passengers is that you must come one hour earlier. Because in our museum, there are free volunteer explanations all day, and there are also many activities in conjunction with intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, cultural and creative exhibitions and technological experiences."
