CCTV News: On February 26, the Supreme People's Procuratorate held a press conference on "Deeply promoting the construction of a safer China at a higher level."

Miao Shengming, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Procurator General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, introduced at the meeting that the procuratorate severely cracked down on drug crimes. From January to November 2024, 48,000 drug crimes were prosecuted, and research and guidance on new drug crimes were strengthened. In the case of Yang Mouhui and others who filed a complaint by the Hubei Provincial Procuratorate, the Supreme People's Procuratorate supervised the retrial of the case in accordance with the law. After the trial, the court changed the crimes committed by the defendant from illegal business to crimes of smuggling, trafficking, transportation, and manufacturing of drugs. The two crimes including Yang Mouhui were aggravated and the wrong judgment was corrected.

The procuratorate also actively participates in the special work of combating cross-border gambling crimes, guides local procuratorates to accurately confirm the facts of the crime, effectively punish major cross-border gambling crimes, and properly handle cases involving students from a certain vocational school going to work in overseas gambling websites in accordance with the law.
