The reporter learned from the General Administration of Customs that in 2024, my country's foreign trade will improve and increase in quality, and the eastern, central, western and northeastern regions will complement each other's advantages and show their strengths, and all imports and exports will grow. Among them, the opening level of Northeast China has been further improved, and the import and export scale has hit a new high for four consecutive years, reaching 1.25 trillion yuan in 2024, an increase of 1.6% year-on-year. Among them, exports increased by 8.1%, 1 percentage point faster than national exports.
In 2024, the industrial advantages of strong production and R&D capabilities of old industrial bases in Northeast China were further utilized, with engineering machinery exports increasing by 10.5%, household appliances increasing by 14.4%, and electrical control devices exports increasing by 9%. The ice and snow economy industry in the Northeast continues to make efforts, and the export of ski shoes and snowboards to Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have increased exponentially.
The eastern region continues to play the role of "ballast stone". Imports and exports for the whole year were 34.95 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.4%, accounting for 79.7% of my country's total import and export value, and exported more than 80% of labor-intensive products, household appliances and lithium batteries were exported. The integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been accelerating, with the import and export of nine mainland cities in the Bay Area increasing by 10.1%, driving the national import and export growth by 1.9 percentage points. The central and western regions are increasingly moving towards the forefront of opening up, with imports and exports of 7.65 trillion yuan in 2024, an increase of 4% year-on-year.
