The reporter recently learned from the National Development and Reform Commission that in 2024, the national labor-for-relief policy has attracted a total of 3.32 million low-income people to find employment locally, with the total number of employment absorbed increasing by 31% year-on-year, and labor remunerations of 47.8 billion yuan were distributed, a year-on-year increase of 32%, and the policy effect continues to be released.
In 2024, the National Development and Reform Commission supported local governments to implement 2,726 labor-for-relief projects around small and micro rural infrastructure, and absorbed 360,000 low-income people, including rural people who have been lifted out of poverty. All localities have promoted the labor-for-relief method in 24,000 key engineering projects in key areas such as transportation and water conservancy, agriculture and rural areas, ecological construction, and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction, and helped 2.96 million key groups in urban and rural employment difficulties and disaster-affected people to find employment locally.
Relevant responsible persons of the National Development and Reform Commission said that in the next step, we will speed up the issuance of the central investment plan for 2025, make good use of the time window for start of construction in the first year, implement the implementation of labor-for-relief projects with high standards and high quality, and continue to promote the labor-for-relief method in various key engineering projects, and further expand the employment absorption capacity and the scale of labor remuneration payment.
