Alison Wang, a citizen of New York City, USA, noticed that on the occasion of the New Year, the Chinese follow many traditional customs with rich meanings. For example, cleaning means bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new; tasting sweet candies embodies people's beautiful expectations for the sweet and happy life in the new year.
"I will clean my house as the new year comes. This will bring good luck and prosperity when I leave the old year." Virginia baker Chelsea Tan told NPR.

CNN reported that every corner of the world is filled with a joyous and lively atmosphere. From clothing stores to city streets, there are all bright and charming Chinese reds.
American food blogger Christine Morita said that every Spring Festival, she would prepare traditional Chinese cheongsams for herself and her daughter, "This is a fashionable way to celebrate."
Lena Chen, who lives in California, USA, recalled to NPR that when she was a child, her family's financial conditions were not very good, but her mother would still prepare new clothes for her and her sister. "That red dress is the most beautiful dress my sister and I have ever worn!"
