CCTV News: Lion dance, also known as "little dance", "little lamp" and "little dance", symbolizes good luck and is one of the excellent traditional folk arts in China, and is mostly performed in festivals and festive activities. The existing lion dance is divided into two categories: southern lion and northern lion. The southern lion has many difficult martial arts skills; the northern lion is majestic and silly.

Beili Village, Xushui District, Baoding City, Hebei Province is the birthplace of the northern lion and is known as the "Northern Lion Sect". The Xushui lion dance originated from the Eastern Han Dynasty and showed the brave, rough and bold personality and distinct local characteristics of the northern Chinese people. In 2006, Xushui Lion Dance was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

During the Spring Festival, a lion dance performance is being performed in Beili Village. Amid the sound of gongs and drums, the mighty and majestic "lion" suddenly shook his head and tail, and sometimes lowered his eyebrows and nodded. Sometimes he also made movements such as "looking at the sky and looking up the moon" and "standing upright in the mountain", interspersed with unique skills such as "four lions stepping on the ball over the seesaw" and "single leg rotated 360 degrees" on the plum blossom stake, which won the cheers of the villagers at the scene.

The early days of the establishment of the Beili Village Lions Club in 1925 were in the form of a folk flower club. In terms of performance format, there are differences between "literary lion" and "martial lion". "Wen Lion" focuses on expressing the lion's lively expression and gentle and playful personality. Through the actor's physical activities, it shows the lion's movements such as scratching, shaking hair, licking claws, and purging ears. It has delicate emotions and a cute appearance. "Wu Lion" focuses on the cooperation between the two and has strong skills. Through jumping, turning, flying, and pounce, the lion's fierce movements are vividly displayed.

In 1952, Beili Lion Dance Troupe represented Hebei Province in the national performance and won the championship, and was also selected by the state to participate in the World Youth Festival. It was this opportunity that allowed the lion dance troupe, which was active in the folk, to receive guidance and training from the national formal dance art team.

Xu Shui's lion dance was meshed with the shape of stone lions of all dynasties and was carefully crafted in terms of color, shape, decoration, etc. The elegant and round lion's head, the wide and bulging forehead, the black and shiny eyes and slightly trembling ears... From the color of the lion's head to the mechanism of the eyes and mouth, they are all striving for excellence, striving to be vivid and open and close with force.

Now, Xushui's lion dance team has grown to more than 20 teams, and more than 800 people participated in lion dance. Under the guidance of the local government, Xu Shui also entered the campus through intangible cultural heritage and included lion dance in elective courses in 10 local schools.
