In the Tang Dynasty, "Three Yangs began to spread, and the four orders first opened", the couplet form began to sprout; during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, "The New Year welcomes the Yuqing, and the festival is Changchun", the Spring Festival couplets began to show that the spring is always beautiful in the festival; in the Song Dynasty, "Thousands of households shine on the sun, they always replace the old charms with new peaches", and festival culture became the literary supply of poets and poets; in the New Year's Eve of the Ming Dynasty, every household wrote ink and every household posted Spring Festival couplets; in the Qing Dynasty, Spring Festival couplets became a carrier of New Year customs with rich cultural connotations, and Spring Festival couplets were already posted with rigorous etiquette. According to the eighth volume of "History of the National Dynasty Palace" by the Qing officials, Spring Festival couplets are hung on the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month every year.

From ancient times to the present, Spring Festival couplets have almost all red-back black characters or red-back gold characters. Only the Spring Festival couplets from the Qing Dynasty palace were written on white silk in brush and ink. The Manchus in the Qing Dynasty "shang white", and this unique aesthetic is also reflected in the Spring Festival couplets at that time, which is completely different from the folk Red Spring Festival couplets.

Liu Peng, a research librarian at the Ancient Books Museum of the National Library, introduced that "Yangjizhai Conglu" Volume 19, written: white silk and brocade railings, ink books. White silk is made of white silk cloth, and brocade railing is the five-colored edges around it. The red door reflects the color of the red palace, and the spring couplets and the red palace buildings complement each other.

"The sky increases the years and people grow their lives, and spring fills the world and the hall is full of blessings." It is one of the most classic Spring Festival couplets in China. It is a birthday couplet written by Lin Daqin, the top scholar in Jiajing, Ming Dynasty, to his father-in-law. "Heaven" vs. "Spring", "Add" vs. "Full", "Year" vs. "City", the parallel is neat, and the rules are rhyme, and it has been passed down to this day.

Spring Festival couplets are also called "Poetry in Poems" because they combine parallel prose, regular verse, prose, lyrics and music. They are simple and profound in meaning and neat in parallel.

Xie Dongrong, deputy director of the Ancient Books Museum of the National Library, introduced that the Spring Festival couplets are a praise of the beautiful scenery, an expression of one's feelings, and an expectation for the future. The inclusion of intangible cultural heritage during the Spring Festival is a social practice for the Chinese to welcome the New Year, echoing and talking with their ancestors, and inheriting and promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
