CCTV News: Guo Jiakun, the new spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a debut on January 6 and presided over a regular press conference. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the World Trade Organization. Guo Jiakun, the new spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to related issues that China will continue to uphold its original aspiration to join the WTO and safeguard the multilateral trading system with the WTO as its core.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said that the World Trade Organization is the core of the multilateral trading system. In the past 30 years of its establishment, it has ensured overall stability and orderly global trade, strengthened economic and trade cooperation among members, and promoted developing economies to participate in and benefit from economic globalization. Important contributions have been made to enhance the well-being of people in all countries and promote sustainable development. Free trade is an inevitable requirement for world economic development, and the fundamental goal is to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results and promote common development. Implementing protectionism and building "small courtyards and high walls" seriously disrupts the global production and supply chain and damages the common and long-term interests of all countries. China will continue to uphold its original aspiration to join the WTO, work with the international community to safeguard the multilateral trading system with the WTO as the core, and continue to promote the liberalization and facilitation of global trade and investment, so as to better benefit the world.
