It was dawn on January 21st. A bus and prop car carrying thirty or forty Wanbang actors set out from Neixiang County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, heading south along the Tuanhe River, and heading towards Dachi Village, Shilin Town, Dengzhou City next door.
Wanbang, which has a history of nearly 400 years, is one of the first national intangible cultural heritages. It was born from Qin Opera and was nourished by the Central Plains culture and Chu culture. It has the high and exciting Qin Opera, the gracefulness of Chu Music and the regular and smoothness of Central Plains music. It is deeply loved by the people in the southwest Henan area.
The Wanbang Opera Troupe in Neixiang County, Henan Province is the only professional performance group existing in this opera. Everyone in the troupe's actors are all versatile, and everyone can save the scene and make up for the stage. Yang Yujie, a retired and rehired actor in her 60s, also served as a cook in the troupe. She went on stage after cutting the vegetables and put on the stage. After getting off the stage, she hurriedly put dumplings for everyone with oil paint on her face; Pang Ruifu, a driver of the "post-80s" prop car, left the steering wheel and turned into a starring actor... "Wanbang Opera is sung to neighbors and villagers. Its roots are the hometown and villagers. As long as we keep running, Wanbang Opera will definitely be able to survive." said Wu Xinjian, the head of the Wanbang Opera Troupe in Neixiang County.
