On January 24, Chen Binhua, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, answered questions from reporters.

Q: It is understood that the Fujian and Shanghai tourism tour groups have submitted applications to relevant Taiwan parties for inspection on the island today. Do you know the relevant situation?

Answer: This is indeed the case. It is understood that after the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced the resumption of group tours for residents of Fujian and Shanghai to Taiwan, the tourism industry across the Taiwan Strait has actively communicated and connected, and is enthusiastic about restoring and expanding cross-strait tourism exchanges. We are happy to see Fujian and Shanghai cross-border groups put forward inspection requirements to relevant Taiwan parties, and hope that tourism operators from both places will successfully conduct inspections in Taiwan and lay a good foundation for restoring group tours for residents from both places to Taiwan.
