The 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month is the Little New Year in the North. On this day, Zhujiagou Village, Suizhong County, Huludao City, Liaoning Province welcomed a "special" guest. On the afternoon of the 22nd, General Secretary Xi Jinping came here bravely in the cold to visit and comfort the affected people.
In August 2024, Huludao City, Liaoning Province suffered severe floods. Due to its location in mountainous areas and low-lying terrain, Zhujiagou Village, Mingshui Manchu Township, Suizhong County is one of the most severely affected villages. The houses of villagers Wang Baowei's family were also completely damaged in this flood, and they no longer have the conditions for restoration and reconstruction on the original site. Like Wang Baowei's family, 186 people from 41 households and 1000 people from Zhujiagou West Group, which was the worst affected, were resettled by centralized reconstruction in other places, and built a "Zhujia New Village" with a total construction area of 3,466 square meters. Before winter began, the villagers moved into their new homes.
This is the first New Year that Wang Baowei and his family have spent in their new home.
The brand new houses, warm kangs, fiery red lanterns, full of New Year’s goods, and the warm words of the General Secretary have made the villagers of Zhujiagou Village feel warmth and happiness in this cold winter. The New Year is approaching, starting with the "new" and the future is promising.
